Responsibilities, supervisors, goals, and safety can activate "nerves." Sometimes it feels like pressure in the chest or a tight stomach. It makes it hard to relax and difficult to pay attention.

Nerves make the mind travel to the future ("What if something happens?"). The body accelerates as if there were danger. Even if nothing is happening, the body remains tense and the mind thinks about everything and nothing at the same time.
It brings the brain back to the present. Worries live in the future; the body can only calm down in the present, and that helps the mind stay clear.
