Exercises to improve symptoms of dizziness/vertigo

These exercises should be done at home. They can help your body get used to the movements and improve discomfort. It’s important to know that these exercises are not a cure for dizziness or vertigo, but they can help improve symptoms.

Step 1

Sit halfway on the edge of the bed with your legs hanging down. We will try to get you to lie down, either to the left or right.

Step 2

Shift your weight to the right in one smooth motion, so your right ear rests on the bed. Make sure to look forward. Hold this position for 30 seconds or until the dizziness or vertigo passes.

Step 3

Sit up again as in Step 1, looking forward. Hold this position for 20 seconds.

Step 4

Shift your weight to the left in one smooth motion, so your left ear rests on the bed. Make sure to look forward. Hold this position for 30 seconds or until the dizziness or vertigo passes.

Step 5

Sit up again as in Step 1, looking forward. Hold this position for 20 seconds.
The recommendation is to repeat the exercises 5 times, 3 times a day. If your symptoms do not improve with these exercises, visit your primary healthcare provider for an evaluation.
Be careful not to have any objects nearby that could cause a bump or injury.
