About the Role

In this role, you are a 4th year medical student in the US who is a member of the LMSA and you will serve as a Health Coach to our U.S. patients. We are looking for a 4th year medical student who enjoys thinking outside of the box: comfortable proposing solutions to problems they see, iterating and measuring the impact of their solutions, and collaborating in a fast-paced digital, remote environment.

Qualifications:

  • 4th year medical student in the US, a member of the LMSA.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (medical and conversational proficiency in English required - we will supply a test during interviews).
  • A learning mindset: you'll be learning how to provide telemedicine, utilizing digital health platforms and patient communication platforms, and collaborating with cross-functional team members to serve an often hard-to-reach and underserved population.
  • Tech savviness: you'll be fully remote in this role, so knowing how to navigate tech on your laptop is key. Bonus if you have a proactive attitude with no ego about asking questions when you don't understand something.
  • An interest and openness to new ways of work to improve the lives of those in need.
  • Resilience, adaptability and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Offer health coaching consultations through our digital platform in English and Spanish to patients in the U.S. Health coaching spans motivational interviewing, health literacy and education about chronic conditions and nutrition, helping patients adhere to medication and treatment plans from their physicians, and learning to apply the MiSalud Chronic Conditions Programs -- all within a virtual telehealth setting.
  • Being the first medical point of contact and intermediary between the patient and U.S. Providers.
  • Creation and/or follow-up of electronic medical records, following compliance regulations for the health coaching role.
  • Utilizing motivational techniques to educate and engage patients into lifestyle changes for measurable health outcomes.
  • Outreach over phone and SMS with patients who don’t attend their appointments or drop out of health programs, to engage and guide them to the changes needed for improved health.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals, patient engagement, and technical teams to create the best patient experience for MiSalud patients.
  • Train and participate in our Quality Assurance protocols as a health coach, and comply with regulations in your capacity as a health coach.
  • Keeping up to date on training for our technology and health program/protocols – we are a startup and are constantly building new things!
  • Attend our in-person biometric & enrollment events in the U.S. or Mexico to meet our population in person, if possible.

What do we offer?

  • Work from home, anywhere within the US timezone.
  • Flexible schedule options - you will commit to a standard schedule of at least 10 hours per week, but we are flexible on hours served.
  • An environment where you will be encouraged to share your ideas, put them in action, and feel empowered to make change.
  • Continuous training and workshops on topics of interest such as Lifestyle medicine, mental health, new trends, and support programs.
